High Priestess's CornerGreetings! Welcome to Merry Meet Temple's latest newsletter. As usual, life is full of changes. Some are good, and others are not good. The majority are neither; they are just changes. The leaves have turned brown and fallen from most of the trees. They gladly blow about on the wind. Most plants have died off for the year after releasing their seeds. Some look dead, but that's just how they over-winter. Others, like pines, loose some of their needles or leaves, but remain green throughout the winter. I've noticed that people tend to react to winter in similar ways as plants. Some just seem to curl up and "die". They become hermits for the winter. They aren't heard from or seen until spring when their "seeds" have over-wintered. Their seeds sprout and they slowly warm up to the world again. Some people go into their dens for the winter, and they sleep the winter away. In the spring, they seem to have been reborn with new ideas and projects. These people warm quickly to the change of seasons. Others keep doing what they normally do. They add extra layers of clothing to protect from the cold and wind of winter, but they just keep right on living and doing. Which way are you? NewsKiller fairies caused four deaths
By
GARY O'SHEA Seven were “bewitched” and one was led to a pond to drown by a will o’ the wisp — a ghostly light. They are among the causes of death in the burial register for the parish of Lamplugh in Cumbria between the years 1656 to 1663 — which even recorded that “Mrs Lamplugh’s cordial water” claimed two lives. Details were revealed yesterday after it was found in the county’s archives — showing that 17th-century England was a deeply superstitious and often brutal place. Archivist Anne Rowe said: “I’ve never come across anything like this. “These were insecure social times and many folk in the 17th century would have been scared of fairies and will o’ the wisps with many a natural death being put down to the evil witchcraft of a harmless old widow.” The manuscript, a later copy of the original, was found in Whitehaven during a national local history campaign. It claims four people were “frighted to death by faries” while another
died after being “led into a horse pond by a will of the whisp’. A drunken duel “fought with frying pan and pitchforks” killed another
man, while a second using “a 3-footed stool and a brown jug” as weapons
claimed another. She said the document was genuine but might not be “entirely serious”. She added: “I’m not sure whether to attribute this list to our
ancestors’ superstitions — or sense of humour!”
Life is the random amount of time we humans have been allotted to live
here on earth. How soon we have forgotten what this means. A complex
internet of organisms are living together; depending upon one another to
strive for harmony. We have disrupted that. And I know harmony isn't
always beautiful. Yes it is the sun peacefully reflecting upon the
water as nightfall approaches, but it is also the tiger defeating the
gazelle after a heated pursuit. Nature has her quid pro quo's. Reason
and greed laugh and dance upon this failed contract. This space here
does not belong to you or I, rather it belongs to every single living
organism, just as everything alive belongs to the earth. If it is wrong
to kill another human then why is it not wrong to kill our planet, our
provider? Our ability to reason does not mean we are superior or
invincible. Good and evil reside everywhere, reason is not exempt. And
now in the late twentieth century the evils of reason and greed
laughing, dancing on this sacred contract can be seen everywhere. Is it
not obvious? We have taken too much, more than we need, and have given
little in return. There is nothing rational to this disgusting
overindulgences. Our actions are going to cause (human, much) life to
cease. Listen...your primitive voice is there...obey it. Accept your
animal self, a piece of the harmonious web. Heed the voice of nature
(and listen). For in this situation, regression is the only way to
proceed.

Going's OnLife has been busy for most of us. We have three love and healing energy requests. If you want a person or pet included, please contact Lady Damorea. Gothic Charms (aka - Melissa) recently announced that her mother-in-law was recently diagnosed with cancer. As many of you know, she has requested that she not be told if it was cancer until after the holidays. Please surround the entire family in loving, healing light.. Lady Damorea & Family have a friend named Jeanne who lives in Oregon. Jeanne was diagnosed with lymphoma more than a year ago. Her latest treatment involved massive radiation therapy and stem cell replacement of her bone marrow. Please add Jeanne and her family to your healing thoughts. Lady Damorea's mom was recently released from the hospital. She is doing well, but can use all the positive energy she can get. Lady Damorea had almost half of the classes in the course catalog when her computer crashed royally. Reformatting was necessary. As a result, she is now re-creating the course catalog after having handwritten it. Once it is complete, it will be posted at the Yahoo Group under the "files" section. Please be patient. If you have other news that you would like to have posted here, please contact the editor of the newsletter at editor@merrymeettemple.org. Questions1. Lady Damorea will be including lessons in these newsletters. What would you like to learn about? 2. Would you be interested in donating articles for the newsletter? LessonsThis ritual does not commit a child to any religious path, not even Wicca or Paganism. It is an affirmation of the parents' and the group's commitment to the child. That commitment is for love, teaching, freedom to explore other paths and ways of life, and caring (and much more). The High Priest should preside for a girl; the High Priestess for a boy. The age of the child at the time of the ritual is for the parents to decide. (For Joshua, age 1 week; for Thor who was premature & spent months in the hospital, age 6 months.) The parents typically choose a "secret name" for the child and usually also name a "Faerie God Mother and God Father" for the child. The Faerie God Parents agree to raise and/or teach the child if, for some reason, the parents cannot. The Goddess and the God are asked to "bless, protect & prepare" the child for her/his childhood & to "make clear" the proper path for this particular child. Gifts are also presented to the child at the end of the ritual. During most Wiccaning/Paganing rituals the child is introduced to the elements by walking with the child around the Circle & finally to the center to introduce the child to the gods. For boys, this ritual is usually done after 12 solar cycles or 13 years of age. (Some wait for boys to get their first pubic hair.) For girls, within the first lunar cycle the onset of menses. Because this is a celebration of sexual maturity, fertility gifts are generally given at this ritual (painted eggs, pine cones, etc.) Watches & birthstone rings & cameos are also appropriate. This ritual also acknowledges the changing relationship between parent and child. The father/mother/child relationship is growing to an adult relationship that is more friendship than the younger child parent relationship. The young woman or man who has gone through this ritual is generally treated as an adult by member of the coven. Generally, there is also some type of ordeal that the child must do prior to the ritual. (I had to go out into the woods & identify as many plants, tree, flowers, herbs, mushrooms, rocks, lichen, moss, etc. that I possibly could.) Generally, this ritual is done by the mother (for a girl) or the father (for a boy) and three or four same-sex friends of the family. Girls generally pass through a "birth tunnel." The women spread their legs and the girl crawls through. She is lightly spanked as she passes through and the women moan as if in childbirth. A boy, however, receives body painting of symbols that have been chosen by his father. After the ritual, there's a feast, wine and other drink, gifts, stories of gods and goddesses, heroes and heroines, etc. Book ReviewOk, I promised Lady D. I would write a review for the current book
